Furbaby ("we", "us") makes software for veterinary clinics: the Furbaby clinic app, used by clinic staff, and the Furbaby app for pet parents. This policy explains what information we handle, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the apps and to furbaby.in.
Who is responsible for what
Your pet's medical records (visits, medicines, vaccinations, appointments) are written and kept by your veterinary clinic. The clinic decides what to record and is responsible for those records. Furbaby stores and processes them on the clinic's behalf, and shows you the parts the clinic shares with pet parents.
For your Furbaby app account (your login), Furbaby is responsible.
What we collect
From your clinic, when it uses Furbaby:
- Owner details: name, mobile number, preferred language, and whether you agreed to receive WhatsApp messages.
- Pet details: name, species, breed, sex, date of birth, weight, allergies and photo.
- Care records: visits, findings, treatment, medicines and doses, food and care advice, warning signs, vaccinations, deworming, due dates and appointments.
From you, when you use the Furbaby app:
- Your mobile number, to sign you in with a one-time code sent by SMS.
- Your settings: language, and whether you want notifications. If you turn notifications on, your phone's notification token.
- Visit requests you send to your clinic.
- Questions you ask in Ask Furbaby, and the answers.
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos from your phone, or advertising identifiers, and we do not show ads.
How we use it
- To show you your pet's records from your clinic, and to let you request visits.
- To remind you about vaccinations, deworming, follow-ups and appointments, by app notification or WhatsApp, as your clinic has set up and as you have agreed.
- To answer Ask Furbaby questions (see below).
- To keep the service secure, fix problems, and limit misuse (for example, the number of questions per day).
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Ask Furbaby and AI
When you ask Ask Furbaby a question, we send your question, your recent questions in that conversation, and your pet's records that your clinic shares with you to an AI model provided by Amazon Web Services (Amazon Bedrock). The model is instructed to answer only from those records, and to tell you to call your clinic when the records don't cover your question or when something sounds urgent. Answers are not a substitute for your vet.
Your question and the answer are saved so your clinic can see what pet parents ask. The AI provider does not use them to train its models. This processing may take place outside India, including in the United States.
Who we share it with
- Your clinic: your visit requests, app status and Ask Furbaby questions.
- Service providers who run parts of Furbaby for us, under contract and only for that purpose: Supabase (database and sign-in), Amazon Web Services (servers and AI), an SMS provider (sign-in codes), Google and Apple (app notifications), and WhatsApp (messages, when your clinic sends reminders that way).
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
Where it is stored and how it is protected
Records are stored in data centres in Mumbai, India. Information is encrypted in transit. Each clinic can see only its own records, and a pet parent can see only their own pets, enforced in the database itself.
How long we keep it
Your app account is kept until you delete it. Your clinic keeps its medical records for as long as it needs them for your pet's care and its legal obligations. When a clinic stops using Furbaby, we delete or return its records as agreed with the clinic.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account: in the app, go to Settings → Delete account, or see how to delete your account.
- Notifications: turn them on or off in the app's settings.
- WhatsApp: tell your clinic if you no longer want WhatsApp messages.
- Access or correct your information: ask your clinic for your pet's records, or contact us for your account.
You have rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, including to access, correct and erase your personal data and to raise a grievance. Contact us using the details below.
Children
The Furbaby app is meant for adult pet owners. It is not directed at children under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
